Japan in your hands.

Scenes and art of Japan, made into scent and everyday objects.

Scroll

In the 1800s, Japan crossed the ocean in wrapping paper.

Ukiyo-e prints that crossed the sea as wrapping paper for ceramics caught the eyes of Monet, Van Gogh and other Western artists, and a longing for Japanese art began to spread.

In time, that passion came to be called Japonisme.

JAPONISM takes the Japanese sense of beauty that once moved hearts across the ocean, gives it scent and touch, and brings it into contemporary life.

Accounts of how Japonisme spread, and of its background, vary.

    Rice Bran Ingredients

In Edo-period Japan, cloth bags filled with rice bran — nuka-bukuro — were used for washing.Inspired by that everyday wisdom, JAPONISM uses ingredients derived from rice bran, including rice bran ferment extract as a moisturising ingredient.

    Traditional Design

The encircled family crest (“Kamon”) on our soap’s surface symbolizes rice plants and our commitment to sustainability. The transparent section in the bottom right of the soap represents the tranquility of Japanese Zen and the clear waters that surround the Japanese islands.
